FRONTIER ENGINEERING started with the aspiration of Pankaj Dhar Barua and Subodh Barman, who started as business partners to run a Mobile Canteen. It all began with their passion of being an individualist in the commercial business of construction.

In the year 1958, Pankaj Dhar Barua along with Subodh Barman teamed up as business partners to initially start with a Later, Mr. Subodh Barman shifted into the hotel business while Mr. Pankaj Barua started with his individual construction firm by the name of FRONTIER ENGINEERING.

Frontier Engineering completed its first big project The Umtru Power Project in the year 1959. There was no looking back after that and the Frontier Engineering associated itself with multiple construction projects such as Fabrication Unit at Ganeshguri, Guwahati in the year 1961-62, construction of a double storied ship under the M.V Panchoi Project, launched on 14th September 1968 under Assam Inland Water Transport. The firm extended its work beyond Northeast and had set another milestone by successfully setting up a transformer factory in Kolkata in the name of Frontier Engineering (Electro-Mech).

Pankaj Dhar Barua, the ex-chairman of Industrial Cooperative Bank Limited and the first Managing Director of International Hospital, Guwahati, had over the years set the footprints of Frontier Engineering across the northeast and beyond.

In 2006, upon Pankaj Dhar Barua’s demise, his son Souvik Barua (Bob) who had been working closely with his father continued to run the business. With his untimely death, Souvik Barua's wife Pallavi Barua took over the business and has been successfully running it since then.

Today, Pallavi’s primary vision is to continue, fulfilling dream of her father-in-law and her husband. She is now working towards the existence of Frontier Engineering and aspires to bring it back to where it was once.
